This option is definitely the most convenient way to climb the Alphubel. It has the particular advantage of being flexible when lifts and huts are not yet open or have already closed. We fly with the helicopter from Zermatt to the Alphubeljoch 3836m.
Depending on the conditions, 400 meters of altitude lead us over the ice nose or the east couloir to the summit.
The descent is via the moderately steep, glaciated flank in the direction of the Längfluhbahn, which brings us to Saas Fee.
Best time: Mid-June - End of September 2026
